Fresh Prince on Google Maps

The Assignment: “Use Google Maps to tell a story! It can be the story of a trip you took, a trip you would like to take, a strange occurrence, a war, anything you like! The only rules are that you have to use Google Maps proper in order to tell your story ”

The Process: I used google maps for all the images. Instead of creating my own story, I decided to use google maps to depict the story of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. My favorite show as I grew up, and yet still one of the best all time comedies. Please enjoy.

Now, this is the story all about how
My life got flipped-turned upside down
And I’d like to take a minute
Just sit right there
I’ll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel Air

In west Philadelphia born and raised
On the playground was where I spent most of my days
Chillin’ out maxin’ relaxin’ all cool
And all shootin some b-ball outside of school

When a couple of guys
Who were up to no good
Startin making trouble in my neighborhood
I got in one little fight and my mom got scared
She said ‘You’re movin’ with your auntie and uncle in Bel Air’

I pulled up to the house about seven or eight
And I yelled to the cabbie ‘Yo homes smell ya later’
I looked to my kingdom
I was finally there
To sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel Air

The Lyric is “The Fresh Prince of Bel air” written by Willard Smith and Jeffery Townes.

  1. I was only 2 years old when this show started and 8 when it ended, so I never got the chance to see it. (Was more interested in cartoons at the time.)

Even so, I know the theme song, and I really like how you found all the images to match the lyrics. Did you use Photoshop or something to manipulate them to make them?

  2. Hahah. This is clever.

  3. This is a very imaginative take on the assignment. I like how you did this one.
